Louis Fourie 

Louis Fourie is a mentor to a diverse range of South African business
leaders.

He studied Economics, started his career as an economist, and was one of
the first winners of South Africa’s Economist of the Year award. In the early
1990s, he co-founded what is today one of South Africa’s leading wealth
management businesses, and was the Executive Chairman of the business
for 12 years.

After his retirement from the wealth management industry in 2007, Louis
and his son Niel founded The Logic Filter, a business focusing on life
guidance and strategic advice for professionals. Their “Regarding My Life”
program, which is also offered in digital format, forms part of the executive
wellness curriculum of several leading South African companies.

Besides contributions to academic material on Economics over the years,
Louis is the author of books on personal finances, the wellness of
South Africa, personal happiness, and the practice of success.
He speaks about these topics to corporate audiences worldwide.

Louis lives in Pretoria with his wife and high school sweetheart, Anita,
to whom he has been married for 42 years.

Chris Budd 

Chris Budd founded UK financial planning company Ovation Finance Ltd in 2000. He sold a majority of Ovation to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) in March 2018.

He is the author of six books, the original Financial Wellbeing Book in 2016, and the latest is The Four Cornerstones Of Financial Wellbeing.
He has also published three novels.

Chris writes The Financial Wellbeing Podcast. He founded the Initiative for Financial Wellbeing (IFW). The IFW aims to help advisers to help their clients to be happier, not just wealthier.

Chris lives in Somerset, England, with his family and too many guitars.

Rob Macdonald  

Rob Macdonald is passionate about helping financial planning and investment management businesses achieve better client outcomes.

Having held several senior executive positions in the investment industry, he is now an independent coach and consultant and has been a pioneer in the delivery of  behavioural coaching and practice management programmes for financial advisers since 2014.

Rob is co-organiser of the annual Humans Under Management South Africa conference and is a sought-after speaker and writer. He is author of the book, The 7 Pillars of Financial Health – Partnering with a Professional to Thrive; and co-author of the books, Rethinking Leadership and Frontiers in Financial Psychology. Rob is an editorial adviser to Blue Chip Journal and a regular contributor the publication.

In 2023 Rob was awarded the FPI Harry Brews Award for his contribution to the financial planning profession in South Africa.

Rob is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and a qualified coach and counsellor.

He holds a M Phil (Management Studies) from Oxford University and is a former Director of the MBA Program at the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town.

Roland Cox

Roland is an Integral Coach® committed to advancing personal transformation. Over twenty years, he has delivered over 6000 hours of coaching and 1500 hours of assessment feedback and coached executives at BT, Cisco, BBC, BAT, Philip Morris, Moet Hennessey, Allan Gray, UCT, DStv, Servest, Spar, Grundfos, Juta, Nashua, Old Mutual and RAPCAN.

He is a trained counsellor and holds an Honours degree in Industrial Psychology; is a registered Psychometrist and completed numerous courses including the Integral Coaching Principles course, the Associate Coaching Course and the Professional Coaching Course. In 2015, Roland completed an MPhil in Management Coaching at the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB).

Roland works with wealth managers, lifestyle planners and financial advisors by training them in the fundamental skills and techniques of coaching to enhance the way they engage with their clients.

He has published a number of articles on coaching, diversity and mental health He is the founder of Aspiral a boutique coaching practice working with executives and financial advisors.

Roland lives in Cape Town with his wife and two daughters.

Marius van der Merwe 

Marius is the co-founder of Amity Investment Solutions, a niche market DFM
which focus on providing financial advisers with an end to end, behaviourally
integrated wealth management solution.

He started his career as a lecturer at the University of Pretoria and later at
UNISA, teaching strategic management and small business management.
Marius has been working in the financial services industry for more than
25 years working for Citadel and ABSA Private Bank before founding Amity
Investment Solutions. Other than his role as strategic leader of the company
he is also responsible for research and development and focusses on how to
transition the advice proposition into a behaviourally integrated advice offering which facilitates financial wellbeing.

He holds a BCom (Hons) degree, a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial
Planning and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®. Marius also completed
an MPhil degree in 2025 researching the determinants of financial wellbeing.
He is the author of Pocket guide to investing and a co-author of the
Research Handbook on Personal Finance. Marius has also written articles
for Blue Chip Magazine and Citywire.

Marius lives in Pretoria with his wife Haidee, has three children and is soon
to become a grandpa.

Tim Slatter 

Tim is a seasoned communications consultant and the founder of
Contatto, where he specialises in helping financial planners and advisers
craft and deploy sustainable online communication strategies.

With a focus on personal websites, lifestyle blogs, email campaigns, and social media engagement, Tim has over a decade of experience in the financial services industry, particularly in assisting advisers to connect more
meaningfully with their clients and prospects.

Tim’s approach is rooted in the belief that strong, authentic connections are
key to client retention, wellbeing and business growth. His work empowers
financial professionals to build and maintain an impactful online presence,
enabling them to navigate client transitions and enhance client engagement
effectively.

Francois du Toit

Francois is the founder of PROpulsion and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional based in Somerset West, South Africa. For nearly three decades, he’s been helping financial planners build better practices and deliver amazing service to their clients. His most recent hobby horse is the integration of AI and other technologies into the financial advice business.

Francois has experience as a broker consultant, manager of a team and running his own financial planning practice. He is the eternal student and continuously does research on the latest developments in the financial planning industry. Francios is therefore well equipped to coach advisers on how to futureproof their businesses in the changing world of financial planning. This he does through PROpulsion Live, his weekly broadcast, and PRopulsion podcast where he delves into all things financial planning, tech, and the future of the profession. He is also a regular contributor to publications like Blue Chip Magazine, Money Marketing, and FA News.

Francois completed a Bachelor of Commerce in risk management and the
Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning.

Dr Sonya Lutter 

Meet one of our esteemed speakers at the Money Maestros Conference. Dr. Sonya Lutter is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional and licensed marriage and family therapist. She serves as the Director of Financial Health and Wellness with Texas Tech University’s School of Financial Planning where she leads curriculum and continuing education opportunities in the areas of financial psychology, financial therapy, and financial behavior.

Dr. Lutter’s work at the financial counselling centre at Texas Tech University and Kansas State University have guided her effectiveness of financial counselling research agenda, which culminates with a co-edited book with Dr. Dorothy Durband titled, Student Financial Literacy: Campus-Based Program Development.

Dr. Lutter is also a consultant to financial planning firms helping them bridge the gap between mental health and financial planning. Dr. Lutter served on the editorial advisory board that produced the CFP Board’s book, The Psychology of Financial Planning. Her developmental work in financial therapy is summarized in Financial Therapy: Theory, Research, and Practice with co-editors and she is the author of A Couples Guide to Love & Money: 15 Exercises to Strengthen Your Relationship.
